Sugar Cookies/Sugar Cakes

Saturday, September 12, 2009

I call these sugar cakes because they’re big and fluffy as opposed to sugar cookies which would be the flatter sugar cookies, you can call them whichever name you like.

  • 1 & 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 c. Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 4 & 1/2 c. Flour

What To Do With It All:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • In large bowl cream Crisco, Sugar and Eggs together.
  • Put Baking Soda in Buttermilk and add Vanilla and add to the Crisco, Sugar and Eggs.
  • Add Baking Powder and Flour to other ingredients, mix well.
  • Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet and sprinkle sugar lightly on top.
  • Baking for approx. 10 minutes.

This recipe was from a dear friend Nora Mae, she was very sweet and very kind to my family, may she rest in peace.

Sound fantastic, but I don’t think I could squeeze it into our family’s good nutrition drive. I guess just now and then would be OK, it sure looks good.
